Top 8 Benefits For Creating A Digital Signage Local User

local userYour first question may be, what is a digital signage local user?  Well, Digital signage software, such as Signagelive in this specific example, has the ability to allow the content to be managed centrally, from a corporate level, while also granting "local user" rolls that allow for that user to only have access to specific media players (displays) and even specific sections within those media players (displays).

In other words, if there are multiple displays across one or multiple locations, will you have one person in charge of all the screens, or will you delegate someone (or multiple people) locally at each location or department?  Hmmm good question, right?

Local users are given the capability of contributing to the company wide digital signage system but at a localized level.  They are typically given the ability to handle certain aspects, not necessarily all, of the content that will be displayed through a specific player or multiple-players.

With that said, we have provided for you below, the top 8 reasons that creating a local user can be beneficial to your business.

digital handshake#8 - Create Personalized Greetings. Do you welcome customers or vendors to your office(s)?  Your local user can set the specific display to personally greet each individual by name.  Kind of like a digital handshake.

Maybe there is a VIP experience happening at your retail location, bank branch, or on campus.  A local user can create a personalized greeting that they will be sure to see and leave it off of the displays that the person will not encounter.

#7 - Shift Changes/Differences.  A local user can also daypart playlists which will decipher say, day shift from night shift.  If one location is open 24 hours and another has a closing time, there may be specific content relevant to each separately based on duties and policies.  Also, weather and traffic feeds may not be relevant to certain shifts compared to others.

digital signage safety#6 - Safety Measures.  This can be beneficial for school campuses especially.  Is there a lockdown situation or even a weather safety concern?  A local user can display appropriate safety messages to help guide students and visitors to a safe place and allow them to only be seen on certain screens.

#5 - Celebrations.  If you have offices that span globally, it will make sense to have a local user so that local holidays or celebrations can be recognized.  You wouldn't want to include another nation's holiday or reason to celebrate be seen on a screen in another country that has no idea of it's meaning or significance.

key performance indicators#4 - KPIs.  Key Performance Indicators can be big motivators for employees.  You can use a local user to post data specific to each call center, or to display certain numbers for first of the month or end of quarter, or maybe sales forecasts for each location. Incentives can be driven by this ability.

#3 - Localized Community Information.  Is your department having a cookout?  Maybe there is a free concert on the lawn of your organization or nearby this weekend?  Is there a retailer or local restaurant that is offering your employees a discount or free gift for visiting?

These very local community events can be posted by a local user who is more aware of the happenings since they are actually members of that community.

#2 - External Influences.  Does your retail location "only have 3 left" or "selling out soon" of a product or item?  This information is important for customers to know.

Maybe the weather is extremely warm so you want to upsell your milkshakes or slushies at your quick service restaurant, but it's freezing in another location, so soup is being pushed.  Having a local user, you can make these content changes based on your needs that are created by external influences.

local user#1 - Ensure Company Branding Across The Boards.  The most beneficial part of having local users is that you as the Administrator control the access they have and can ensure that your branding remains the same across the boards.

Content that is branded, templates that have already been created, and central messages cannot be changed unless granted permission by the administrator.

Some of the features specific to Signagelive local users include:

  • A Signagelive Administrator can create a Local User in order to associate Players and Playlists to them accordingly
  • Once in the Flash UI, you can simply add a Localized Playlist asset to a new or existing Playlist
  • Once you have added a Localized Playlist, you’ll be given a list of configurable properties to edit and options
